About Lunchbox London
Our Mission
The Lunchbox London was created to address food insecurity among families with school-aged children while also reducing food waste. We rescued near-expiry and surplus food and redistributed it in practical, family-focused food bundles.
How it started
The Lunchbox London began in April 2023 after a simple but powerful moment at home. Our son noticed a classmate without a lunch, and that led to a conversation about food insecurity in our community. What followed was a small grassroots response: collecting donated food, rescuing near-expiry groceries, and delivering weekly bundles using our personal vehicle. The Lunchbox London was federally incorporated as a not-for-profit on November 23, 2023.
Why this chapter is ending
Running this work as a very small volunteer-run team has been meaningful, but it has also depended on limited family capacity, time, storage, and funding. Closing is not a reflection of need disappearing. It is an honest recognition of the limits of what a tiny grassroots team can sustainably carry. We are deeply grateful for the trust, gener

The Lunchbox London started in April 2023 as a grassroots organization determined to provide healthy lunch foods to food insecure families. We aim to educate families and others about food insecurity and what needs to be done to ensure that those who are struggling no longer have to choose between eating a meal or paying rent.
In November 2023 we became a registered Not-for-Profit. Becoming registered has opened new avenues for us to explore, such as sponsorships, grants and support from local businesses.
As of June 2025, we have provided over 1,300 food bundles to families!
How We Started
Without the incredible support of the London community, we wouldn’t have been able to assist hundreds of families in the past two years. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed during this time.
As a not-for-profit organization with little to no external funding, we rely heavily on the generosity of our neighbours.
Thanks to donations received during food drives, community events, and online orders from our Amazon wishlist, we’ve been able to support hundreds of families across our city.
Our Journey

“We are a professional family in our country and were victims of violence to a large extent. We are grateful for your good heart towards our daughter. We know that you do this work with the best attitude and God will return this donation in a great way. We are sure that we will soon recover our lives just as we did in our country with the needy. We will do the same here when we can. Thank you for your good attitude and for the great love in your hearts.”
From the Families
“I almost cried at how grateful I am. This lightens my heavy heart. Thank you.”
